Event Trends and Market Outlook for 2019 Events
- Planning with Purpose
Event planners and corporate meeting planners are working “purpose” into more and more elements of event programs, such as charitable team building. New for 2019, event experts are predicting more purpose and story-telling in venue selection, keynote speakers, and more. We at CLI have several creative ideas and unique expertise to help clients find more purpose in events to create long-lasting memories for guests.
- Real-time Collaboration
With 2.5 quintillion bytes of data produced each day, people have access to information constantly. Events can stand out with real-time data updates throughout corporate meeting programs while encouraging collaboration. One example we’ve seen are large presentation screens sharing meeting data figures and the hosting contests among social media for real-time feed shares.
If your event offers information via a mobile app, sharing real-time news feeds and encouraging digital networking is another way corporate meeting planners can use real-time collaboration in 2019 to engage meeting attendees.
- Environmentally-Conscious Becomes Standard
With the ban of plastic straws and single-use plastics gaining global attention, we can expect to see changes coming to hotels, venues, and meeting room sets and the materials used.
For a meeting planner looking for an environmentally-conscious hotel and convention space partner in Las Vegas, MGM Resorts has much to offer. The Mandalay Bay Convention Center uses a smart lighting control platform that now saves enough energy to power 400 rooms per year. - Diverse Menus
With the increasing amount of dietary restrictions, we anticipate an increase in requests for unique, specific meal types. Corporate meeting planners will be faced with accommodating more and more special menu requests, which usually these come last-minute or during events.
To avoid scrambling for a special menu request, our event managers recommend being prepared. We work with catering and culinary teams to ask questions prior to the event. Usually, chefs have similar requests each event and can provide useful insight when anticipating dietary or cultural food requests. Even if you have to spend a little budget on a extra meal or two, having special meals whether gluten-free, vegan, paleo, or keto can improve your guest’s experience and event reviews.
- More Social Sharing Moments
With so many new share features coming out on Instagram, the term “Instagram moments” has gone viral. In 2019, we anticipate the engagement on social media will only continue to grow. Be sure to give meeting attendees and guests a chance to engage with the event in real-time by hosting social media contests. A follow-up email showing highlights of the event and featuring guest posts is another great way to make an impact. No matter which social media channel is popular among your event attendance, be sure to encourage them to post from your event!
