Today’s corporate events should be exciting and memorable along with being productive. How do you achieve this? Have a themed event.
MAKE THEM LOOK FORWARD TO THE EVENT
Attendees should look forward to a corporate event. Generally, it takes place outside of the headquarter city, includes learning sessions, activities, meals and an opportunity to network with co-workers. However, if the event is the same old standard format such as continental breakfast, back-to-back Power Point presentations, buffet lunch and more presentations, it loses appeal quickly.
THEMED EVENTS ARE INTERACTIVE
In this fast-paced, highly visual and interactive society, expectations are set accordingly. By setting a unique theme, people gain a new experience and it gives them something to talk about and remember.
WHAT ARE THE CHOICES FOR A THEMED EVENT?
There are myriad options for a themed event. A favorite in any city is Casino Night. The venue can be themed with neon lights, iconic gaming décor and costumed participants. Casino games can be set up in the venue and people can “gamble” with fake money. The money can be exchanged for prizes at the end of the event. Tournaments can be incorporated into the theme, as well.
BIG HAIR, BIG SOUND AND BIG PARTIES
Another popular format is a theme of “80s Culture” with a live band in costume playing all the vintage songs from the era. The 80s brought big hair, big sound and big parties to our culture and most everyone enjoys re-living it or experiencing it for the first time. Video games hit the scene in the 80s, as well, and can be built into the theme for contests or tournaments, if desired. Attendees can be encouraged to come dressed for the era. If the 80s don’t quite hit the mark, how about a modern day nightclub experience complete with DJ, pop music and related activities?
STRIKE!
Bowling events are always fun for the attendees. No one has to be pro bowler status at these events. Just have a great time. Various programs can be used with a popular format incorporating in “wacky bowl.” Wacky bowling gives the participants a list of what they have to do for each roll during a game. Stand on one foot, use your left hand, sit on the floor and roll the ball, roll the ball between your legs, roll the ball between your team’s legs…just a few ideas. This creates a lot of fun and laughter as well as team building.
FIGURE OUT “WHO DONE IT” WITH A MURDER MYSTERY SHOW
A team building event can be built around a Murder Mystery show. Actors will play out the storyline while group attendees have to follow clues and figure out “who done it” with the first team or individual to do so winning a prize. Themed costumes can be incorporated into the activity.
THEY LOOK SO AUTHENTIC!
Impersonators are always fun at a corporate event. Ranging from Elvis to Austin Powers to Cher and most any celebrity, having these look-alikes mingle with attendees and take pictures adds great fun to the event. Look-alike contests can be arranged for attendees, as well.
